Climate change is causing Sea Level Rise. This change is as result of increase in Greenhouse Gases emissions in the atmosphere. The main Greenhouse Gases are Carbon Dioxide and Methane. These gases stay in the atmosphere and trapping the radiation from the sun, causing a greenhouse effect, and increasing the temperature of the planet. The increase in temperature result in the melting of the polar ice caps causing the sea level to rise. This has been proven by the work carried out by the International Panel for Climate Change (IPCC).

Sea Level Rise is inevitable and is already starting to have an impact along the coastline of Malaysia. Flooding and bund breaches that occur along the coast have been attributed to Sea Level Rise.
